What Actually Happens During a Mobile Detail

If you have never booked mobile detailing before, here is exactly what to expect from the moment we pull up.

Mobile detailing van servicing a car

Mobile detailing has one obvious advantage and a few less obvious ones. The obvious one is that you do not lose half a Saturday sitting in a waiting room. The less obvious ones are that the work happens where you can see it, and that a mobile detailer has every reason to be careful with your property because they are standing in your driveway.

What we need from you

Access to the vehicle and roughly a parking space of clear room around it. That is genuinely all. Our van carries its own water supply and its own power, so we do not need your outdoor tap or an extension cord running out of a window.

The walk-around comes first

Before anything else we walk around the car with you, note any existing damage, and confirm what the car actually needs. Sometimes that means talking a customer out of a service. If your paint is in good shape, you do not need correction, and we will say so.

Order of operations

Wheels and tires first, because they are the dirtiest part of the car and cleaning them last would contaminate everything else. Then the exterior wash, top down. Then decontamination and any correction or protection work. The interior is done while exterior products cure, which is why a full detail is efficient rather than simply long.

How long it takes

A maintenance wash and wax runs one to two hours. A full interior and exterior detail is three to five. Multi-stage paint correction is four to eight on its own, and a ceramic coating usually means the car needs to sit undisturbed afterwards while it cures. We give you the realistic window when you book, not the optimistic one.

Weather

This is South Florida, so storms are a factor. We watch the radar and will call to reschedule at no charge rather than rush a job in bad conditions, because water spotting on hot paint during a correction creates more work than it saves.

The inspection at the end

We finish by walking around the car with you again. If something has been missed, it gets fixed there and then. That final check is the part that separates a detail from a car wash, and it is the reason we do it in front of you.
